One of the most striking characteristics of the development economies in the globalization age is the strong growing of the advanced business services activities. Some services, as computing and communications, human resources, engineering, consulting or management, among others, have become to be strategic branches nowadays. The presence of a wide and competitive network of these services is an essential factor in order to achieve competitiveness and economic pull in a given territory. However, these activities use to have strong concentration trends. Those trends can be found across regions as well as inside regions. In this book, we carry out an analysis of the spatial dynamics which characterise advanced business services activities in the Spanish regions. We studyi their effects on the regional efficiency and competitiveness with a special attention on the Asturias community case.
